Rough Day and a Workout

Rough Day and a Workout

Today was a rough day. My workout didn’t go as planned, and it was frustrating. What can I say? Babies don’t always cooperate with my plans. My workouts are usually the one thing I look to, to relieve stress on the not so good days. […]

Getting Stronger

Getting Stronger

So, it’s the middle of my second week working out consistently, and I already feel stronger. Today consisted of cardio, Pilates (using Blogilates videos), and stretching, and I really enjoyed it! I feel so much better. My core is stronger already, and it has only been a little over a week!

Let’s face it…I have a long way to go. To recap…I’ve barely worked out in about three years, and I have had two kids in under two years via C-section. That pretty much equals a weak core. I guess that’s why I’m so excited about feeling stronger. There’s a sense of accomplishment in it, and I am excited to keep going!

I understand that Pilates is not for everyone. It really requires you to focus on your form. I definitely struggle with it, but the challenge motivates me to keep going. It also gives me a sense of peace. My life is chaos from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. I love it, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. However, because of the chaos, peace is rare. Being able to focus fully on the Pilates movements helps to clear my mind, and it keeps me going without losing my mind.

The one thing I have really learned in the past week or so is that if you like it, you’ll keep doing it. That’s really all that matters! I like doing Blogilates, with other workouts here and there, so I’m excited to see where it leads me. Hopefully, to a rockin’ body, but we’ll see…

Workout Tip: Find what works for you, and stick with it! If you like it, you’ll do it. Explore your workout options, and when you find an option that works, do it!

Blogilates POP Pilates – 8 Reasons Why I Love It!

Blogilates POP Pilates – 8 Reasons Why I Love It!

As a mom of two young children, it’s safe to say that I don’t have the time (or childcare) to go to a physical gym. (If you do, I would love to know how you make it work because for me, it just doesn’t.) So […]

My Reason for Starting a Fitness Blog

My Reason for Starting a Fitness Blog

Today, I found myself wondering if starting a fitness blog was a good idea. Do I have enough to say? Do people have any interest in what I have to say? Who am I to write about a fitness journey? Should I really put my life, journey and struggles online for the world to see? I realized quickly that I missed the point.

I started this fitness blog to hold myself accountable to working out in the midst of being a mom to two adorable and energetic kiddos. Would it be great if people liked it? Of Course! But, I am doing this for me first and foremost.

I usually struggle to make my health and well-being a priority. Life is always an adventure right now so time is not on my side. That’s no excuse though. I want to be around to see my children grow up so I have to be intentional about working out and getting healthy.

I always think that I will focus on it later. Then, when later comes, I say the same thing, and it repeats over and over. Blogging about my fitness journey can give me the motivation that I lack. It requires me to stay strong and power through because if I don’t, my blog about fitness is pointless!

For me, the idea of working out is always so much more difficult than the reality. I felt exhilarated today after working out. I think it has been at least four years since I’ve worked out that hard. You know, legs shaking, heart feels like it’s going to race out of your chest, dripping sweat kind of workout. It feels so good afterwards (just maybe not during), and I feel like I have accomplished something.

Working out also jump starts a bodily chain reaction for me. If I work out hard, I want to drink more water, which leads me to drink less soda. If I drink less soda, I tend to eat fewer sweets and watch what I’m eating a little more closely. It’s a win-win!

So if blogging helps me stick with working out and getting healthier, then I will continue blogging regardless of how many readers I have. Working out makes me a better mom, a happier mom, and getting healthy makes me a better role model for my children so that too is a win-win!

Workout Tip: You don’t have to start with a change in diet. For a lot of people, I’m sure it helps, but for me, I have to start exercising first. Eating healthier usually follows. So, I challenge you to give it a shot and let me know how it goes.
